IN THE HEART OF THE MODENESE APPENNINE

The Bed & Breakfast Fontanini di Sopra is a recently restored ancient stone house located 1 km from the village of Monteombraro, 700m above sea level. A perfect natural setting for total relaxation and for those eager to discover the glorious landscapes of the Modenese Appennine hills.

Once a traditional stone barn, the Bed & Breakfast has now been completely renovated. It is set in the quiet countryside of the Appenine woods from which you can enjoy beautiful views of the charming medieval borough of Montecorone, with Mount Cimone and other peaks of the Appenine ridge in the background.

The property has four beds, two bathrooms at the sole disposal of our guests and offers all the facilities to make your stay a pleasant and relaxing one. The hearty breakfast consists of local specialities such as crescentine (a small, flat roundshaped bread), homemade honey jam.

Fontanini is the ideal starting point for beautiful outings, such as the well marked walking trails leading to the Sassi di Sant'Andrea cliffs or the Sassi di Rocca Malatina Regional Park nearby. You may also just want to lay back at the Cuenca Club public swimming pool in Monteombraro and at the Esploraria Adventure Park.

Bed & Breakfast Fontanini di Sopra is also an ideal spot for passionate cyclotourists thanks to its cycle route network through beautiful woodlands and hills. We duly provide shelter and repair service for our bike enthusiasts.

The Apartment

Bed & breakfast Fontanini di Sopra offers an indipendent apartment boasting two bedrooms with double bed, a fully equipped kitchen and two private bathrooms.

The recently renovated apartment comes with all the amenities for a pleasant stay. Lay back and enjoy the fresh mountain air on our furnished terrace or on the meadow or try your luck at our little fishing lake.

Staying in a traditional mountain stone house with its rustic furnishing and high wooden ceilings, surrounded by quiet woods and green meadowlands, will make you experience the magic scenery of the Appennine area.

At Bed&Breakfast Fontanini di Sopra a hearty breakfast consisting of typical local products will be served every morning. You will taste the genuine homemade specialities of the Modenese Appennines such as tigelle and crescentine (a small, flat roundshaped bread), chestnuts, cherries, homemade jams and our own honey.

The Surroundings

The surroundings of Bed&Breakfast F.d.S offer a variety of historical and environmentally interesting itineraries.

Several medieval villages, fortresses, traditional stone towers as well as the ancient borough of Monteombraro are to be found in the area. You may also discover the impressive sandstone cliffs of the Sassi di Sant'Andrea Park and the surrounding Sassi di Roccamalatina nearby. The area of the town of Zocca boasts many enogastronomical itineraries where you will discover the typical local products of the Modenese Appennine and experience one of the many traditional village festivals taking place mainly in the summer season.
